16 Beautiful U-Pick Orchards for Peach Picking in Virginia

Witness the enchanting sight of peach blossoms in the early spring, and just a few months later, marvel at the even more stunning peaches they bear.

Peaches bloom in the early spring, usually as early as February but sometimes as late as April.

Once they’re pollinated, they take a few months to grow and should be ripe for picking between June and August, depending on the variety.

Peaches are extremely delicate, you’ll want to be very gentle when picking them.

Hold each one firmly, and it may fall off into your hand if it’s ready to be picked. Sometimes giving it a light twist will break it loose.

If it gives you any resistance, it’s not ready, and you’ll most likely damage the fruit if you continue to try to pick it.

Check out the great Virginia orchards below that allow you to pick your own peaches along with some notes about why each farm is special!

You should always call ahead to the farm to ensure they’re offering U-Pick that day because sometimes the crop hasn’t done well or everyone else already beat you to the trees!
